If you aren't familiar, the Kratky growing method is a hydroponic system/method created & named after Dr. Bernard Kratky. It's a way of growing plants suspended above a reservoir that is filled with nutrient rich water. What makes Kratky different from the DWC (deep water culture) method is that there is no use of electricity (pumps & airstones). 💧🌱
✨️✨️ This straightforward setup can serve as an excellent solution for ensuring your Microgreens receive water even when you're away for a day or two, without the need for investing in an automated system. ✨️✨️
🎉 The 2-inch deep tray functions as a reservoir, holding up to 14 cups of water once you introduce your Microgreens to light. As they grow, the roots absorb the water, providing approximately 2 to 8 days (depending on the crop) of not having to water. Simply guide them through germination, fill the reservoir tray with water, and place them under light. Remember to periodically check water levels and ensure all roots are in contact with the water. - To maintain the trays integrity, avoid washing these trays in the dishwasher, using steam, or exposing them to hot water, as very hot temperatures may lead to warping.
- Silicone Medium has a fiber glass core - Replace your silicone if tears, deep cuts, or incurs significant wear that could compromise its integrity.
- 2-inch deep Trays have some imperfections, as well as Oil Marks due to their manufacturing process. Wash with soap before use.
- Store trays out of direct sunlight when not in use. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight will lead to degradation. Also store Tray Clip Labelers out of sunlight.
